Current Features
#1
The current feature set of Ashes Of Redemption as of 01/11/12

* a log-in and log-out system that checks to see if an account with the chosen name exists, and if it does, checks to see if the password matches the players account password

*a registration system with 8 different character classes, each with their own stats that dictate how they play and what their strengths and weaknesses are as well as the perks that they bring in game

* a stats based game play system, where your stats determine things like your health, how much damage you can produce, and various other things of that nature

* a stats page with which you can view various information about your character, such as the levels of each stat, and things like the maximum and minimum amount of damage that you can dish out

*various other odds and ends that will eventually work themselves into the game and its core, that are as of this writing, still being developed, or do not have enough other parts of the game's core to be useable or useful yet

* an open ended game play design from the ground up, so that if you run out of quests or missions to do while the next update to the game is being developed, you wont be stuck without anything that you could possibly do

some other existing features that I forgot to mention are as follows:

*Time system (minutes, hours), that changes as things happen, for example, if you level up, then the day ends and a new day begins... if you spend a skill point, then that would realistically take time for the equivalent training to take place, so time passes for each stat you train, like it would in real life

*Date system (day, month, year)

*load/save system that saves everything each time you go to log out, so you never have to worry about losing any of your game data unless say, your computer crashes, but in that event, you would only have lost the data that was modified since the last time you had logged out...

* an about page that has individual pages for each of the following: an about page for Caffeine Junkies Inc., an about page for Occult Studios, and last but not least, an about page for the game itself

* various different pages that are presented to the user prior to game play which include: the first page that loads in the program is a splash screen explaining some things about the game, like the story line... a page that has three main buttons, a registration button that loads the registration page, a button that takes you to the login system, and lastly a button that takes you back to the splash screen

* the previously mentioned login system, which also, in addition to the registration page, alerts you to things like your passwords not matching, one of any of the three text boxes not having anything, or all three(registration page), or one of the two, or all, of the text boxes not containing anything(login page), or if either the username/password combination do not match an account or the account in question, or if said account does not exist

* the actual game window that game play takes place in has various little spots of character information presented in it for the player to have a quick view of during game play...  like your username, your health points out of max health points ( EX: 20/30), the experience you have and need to level, and your characters current level... your spendable skill points, and the date and time in separate boxes

* the logout button, which when pressed saves your characters data

* the best feature (In my opinion that is) is that there are NO red X buttons anywhere in the program save for the splash screen, so although some would, and this could, be a rather irritating thing to have, in the end, and I will admit, from a players  standpoint, myself included, this would be rather irritating, but the up-side to this is that you CANT accidentally close the game without first saving the game and its corresponding data.  however, if the game has locked up or completely stopped responding, you can still kill it from the task manager...but hopefully you will not have to do this...ever...

* a working leveling system, which upon leveling, grants you 4 additional skill points, as well as an additional skill point in addition to the 4 , for every 4 more levels you attain, example: if you are level 5, then in place of 4 skill points, you would then get 5, and so on for every additional 4 levels above 5..for you will need that additional skill point per 4 levels, because the opponents get smarter and tougher and more evasive the higher the level you get see the unofficial game news thread for information on this.

I'm sure that there are many, many more existing features of the game that I just cannot recall right now, so if and when I do become able to recall more of the already existing game features, I will get back on here and post them... but until that point in time, I will leave you with these awesome features to ponder, and be anxious to see and use for yourselves.

upon finally looking back through the Ashes Of Redemption code, while attempting to get back to working on it at least for a few hours, I noticed a current feature that i do not think I had mentioned.

*upon leveling, you progress a day in the game, and the time is reset to the beginning of the day on the next day.

*once you have leveled, depending on the quantity of experience that you have received, the leveling system loops through itself to check each time that it has completed its run through, if you have leveled past the current next level that you would have normally achieved for a normal battle or event.  so there is not a chance that you could have a glitched level for your character.

*aggressive attack mode in the battle system is now by far the strongest melee attack possible, (made even stronger by the eventual addition of weapons, and even further release of weapon/armor enhancements) has had its probability of success severely reduced (if it fails, you are completely open to attack for that turn).

*the enemy health glitch has been fixed, to where the enemy will neither regenerate its health completely after each attack (might add health regeneration to bosses), nor will it be below its base health value upon returning to fight it after running away, or after killing it.

decided that I would add something to make the games save files a LOT neater and more organized for you all...

* made it to where the game would save each players account to its own dedicated folder, thus organizing the games save folder a LOT more than it was...  it was irritating me to see the multiple save files for even just two different accounts...

* also made it to where each of the individual save files are customized name wise to each individuals character name

each player character is now located in a dedicated folder, so each character's files are in their own folder, thus making the games save files MUCH more organized, and easier to keep track of...

*mainly going to be utilized by computers with multiple characters, either for multiple players, or for those of you whom want to experience the *game's entire game-play system, and not just with one character.

(time to drink some monster and get back to the programming of AOR)
