*DB looks at the fire.* {Well that was odd.}

*Mark just looks confused.* <And why not? We got you the same material, the same design, the same color, size and everything.>

"it can't heat up and turn me on" *she smiles*

...you say that for yourselves... but other phoenixes aren't as lucky to be in a realm like that.

*Karen shrugs.* <Because fire is cool.>

*Mark chuckles.* <Well I couldnt do that ether. Will put a spell on us.>

[Nick]

"really? i thought that was you...it felt really good" *smiling*

*The phoenix reappears to the others.* (The mortal will not listen. He does not understand that we cannot interfear with his affairs no matter how important to him. I say, if he wishes to play with forces beyond his control let him fall on his face.)

*Another phoenix.* (No, we cannot let the cosmos unravel, what goes on here is important for keeping time and space intact, we must stop the alpha at all costs.)

*Mark.* <Nope, it wasnt me. The only thing we could do is sit there. Well the first time was me but then I ran out of magic.>

*Karen and DB looks back at the fire.* {Well now that the strangeness is over do you want to continue our conversation?}

{sure...so why won't you join the gender war DB?}

{Mostly because I think it's dumb for men and women to fight over who is better. On top of that, I have no interest in moving cargo for years so one day some knuckle head higher up in rank will decide I'm ok to fight. I did that once here and it wasnt too thrilling.}

Well that didn't make me hate them any less..

{...true...but then again, maybe Dotz can pull a few strings to get us right into the battles}

{Yea, ok. He even told us we would have to do grunt work. I doubt he'd stain his reputation for the likes of us.}

*Karen sits there and thinks about what DB said.* <That and it's not like he could bail me out of grunt work, I'm on the other team.>

{well...what if Laura joins? she might be able to try pulling strings for ya...}

*Karen laughs.* <It's Laura's first time too, that and I'd prefer to work on my own merit.>

*Mark smiles at Luxa.* <Well, I'll do anything for you and I mean anything. If you ever want something just name it. Do you want me to reseal the door for you?>
