I think it would be better they arent in the same solar system, as logic would dictate they'd know of each other unless all worlds weren't high enough developed to gaze at the nearest planet and see lights on the dark side indicating intelligent life

Or that that planets have a really strong atmospheres and the sun is so intense it messes up anything outside that. So much radiation that it's like a constant EMP, messes up visuals, and destroys radio waves. The extra dense atmosphere keep them safe inside.

what about a high tech world that does have magic, but only can uses it as a power source for their tech? if the solar radiation is like that, then no tech would be sustainable without magic and with the extra dense atmosphere, you'd get a race that would have problems like the volus of mass effect. they'd need pressure for themselves off world and for those that visit their world.

...everything stays in solar system, no space travel... The sun is magic and prevents that without effecting planet life negatively. Try to use logic with a magic star.

And having a magical sun and multiple planets in the life belt long enough for intelligent life to develope shows that its not a natural solar system and something or someone placed it there. If we can't have space travel, how can there be any way to defend against something that does?
