site migration to our OWN "server(s)"

so, dont quote me on this, cause I KNOW FOR A FACT I'm jumping the gun on this, but hey...I can dream cant I??

so anyways...I'm installing some various linux and eventual windows distrobutions, to test them out and see how they work in respects to running as a web server...

so I'm now starting up ubuntu server, and seeing how it works...

I'll post back more info tomorrow as I tinker around with it some more...but in the long run, this will be valueable knowledge to have...

granted its running in virtualbox, but it still works ;p

yea db...I know...I am/was aware of that already...but I PERSONALLY, will be getting some spending money again due to working again... on the other hand however...I DO NOT know HOW MUCH spending money I will have...due to the fact that my hours vary, and my other/last 2 at once did not...

so yea...I've been doing some tinkering around in a ubuntu server VM...and thus far, its looking like its dang simple to run...RUN...a linux server...HOWEVER...figuring out how the hell to use the damn thing...THAT...is proving to be anything but simple...XD...but yea, I've got a ubuntu server installed on my desktop, as a "temporary, not installed" copy...and its proving to be dang simple, thus far, to set up...however, theres a SHIT TON more to do in order to set it up than I EVER would have imagined...

but yea, I'm planning on building it myself db...and as for the money to run it?? were not going to be running it any time soon...not even slightly...but right now I'm going to be downloading an ENTIRE copy of ALL the sites that I'm "running" on this web hosting service, and try to test them all out on the "fake" copy of our own server thats on my desktop...but yea, WE WILL NOT BE RUNNING THE SITE FROM OUR OWN SERVERS AT LEAST TILL DB IS OUT OF COLLEGE/EMPLOYED AS A CAREER/OWNS HIS OWN HOME, or if I happen to hit there first... *smirks* unlikely... then I will be doing such...but as for now, we will (I WILL TRY AT LEAST) be purchasing the parts for 1 server itself...and I will either send db the parts, or I will build it/send it to him, or something like that...but even if we DO get the parts, we will NOT, I REPEAT, WE WILL NOT be running the site from it for ANYTIME SOON...

but I want to ask your guys opinions on some stuff...so I'ma make another few polls or something like that... iunno how you make multiple polls...so I'll brb...

lol...its fine though...but yea, yea I'm a dreamer...its one of a few things that keeps me sane, and rooted to reality, and not off in my own world where if I'm at while doing something important, like driving, I could end up getting myself or someone else killed due to not paying attention... v.v... yea...like I said...I'ma dreamer...
